Inspiration
What inspired you to pursue baking?
Baking has always been my happy place. Whenever I needed a stress reliever or a pick me up, I would head to the kitchen and get baking. I find baking to be a form of design, but instead its edible! Upon graduating two years ago (June 2018), I had the opportunity to travel back home to Aleppo, Syria. I had not been to in over ten years, therefore there was a whole lot I was missing, especially THE SWEETS. Coming back to NY I realized that my favorite sweets are no where to be found locally or in the US. So, I did some research, consulted with “family chefs”, gathered my intel and started producing traditional Syrian sweets. It took some tweaking and adjusting to get to the perfect result, but I am happy to say that I am very proud of where we are at this time.
Time Management
How did you manage to maintain your time?
To be honest, I would say that starting Syrian Delicacies has made my management of time much better! Knowing that I have orders coming in and orders going out, I needed to set a fixed schedule that I would have to stick to no matter what. At this current time, I am running my shop full-time, but I of course still enjoy architecture/design!
