FRIDA PALACIOS
I grew up in the suburbs of Chicago. The accessibility to the city, while living in the suburbs allowed me to see the impact of contrasting environments from a young age. Through observations, I learned that architecture is the background for human life and has the power to determine the quality of life for individuals. This is what attracted me to pursue a career in architecture: the transformative power of architecture in communities.I am originally from Guanajuato, Mexico. I absolutely love my culture. The experiences that I have navigated as a Latina woman both individually and with my family have given me a perspective and drive that will make me a conscious and sensible contributor to the built environment. I hope to be licensed and pursue a career in real estate development one day so that I may transform underserved communities to provide high-quality lifestyles while fighting gentrification

BEYOND
I love quickly stretching in the morning while taking deep breaths because something as simple as this helps me regroup, find my peace, and clear my head for the day
VIRTUAL
My eyes are so strained by the end of the day.I cannot believe how much time is spent on the computer. My eyes have Definity been the most affected. I think it’ also important to let our eyes rest, so I try to limit my screen time as much as I can.
MENTAL
Spending time outside helped me feel refreshed. There is something special about even just taking a walk.
PHYSICAL
Maintaining physical health is about listening to our bodies. Working out and intuitive eating helps me feel my best both physically and mentally.
BOUNDARIES
I like to keep my workspace clean but usually, everything is spread out everywhere... I always have flowers on my desk and whichever book I am reading. I like the messy,“lived in feel” of my workspace
NEIGHBORHOOD
I live in the suburbs, so I see houses and little kids playing outside my window. I love living in the suburbs. One day I might see the city or beach instead.I am excited to see where the next years will take me.
EXPECTATIONS
When I began architecture school, I did not know what to expect. I thought I would come out as an architect, designing buildings right away. It is a whole journey and I have a billion things to learn before I get there, even now having graduated. Architecture school helped me discover my strengths and weaknesses and even new interests within the field. In short, everything I thought I knew, I did not
