ANTONELLA PATETTA
My name is Antonella Patetta and I am an Italian architect based in Nantes, France. I graduated in 2019 from the Faculty of Architecture in the city of Pescara with a master thesis project about formal and informal architecture in the Somali refugee’s neighborhood of Eastleigh in Nairobi, Kenya. I see architecture as a means to reach social equality. That's why I am mainly interested in construction methods that allow affordable housing and low-cost buildings without sacrificing quality. To me, this represents a way to assure fair life standards and opportunities to as many people as possible.

BEYOND
First best thing in the morning is drinking strong black coffee and reading weekly magazines.

Trying to manage the overwhelming online meetings with lots of unidentified people
MENTAL
I just put on some music on my headphones and breathe to restore my inner peace.

BOUNDARIES
All I need for a comfortable workspace is my computer, a sketchbook, some plants around and a cup of hot coffee.
NEIGHBORHOOD
Looking out of my studio windows I see a huge park and its plants, trees and birds.
EXPECTATIONS
Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
What is one change you want to see happen this year in the architecture profession/academia?
Important changes have already taken place in our profession lately, especially when it comes to inclusivity. However there’s still a lot to be done. I hope that we will eventually reach a point where there'll be no need to talk about inclusivity at all. Hopefully in the future everybody will have a chance to make it, thus enriching the diversity of thoughts and ideas that every different architect can bring.
